Earning the title of ‘District Cooling Initiative of the Year — UAE’, the award demonstrates the commitment to developing transformative and sustainable cooling solutions
Emirates District Cooling Company (EMICOOL), a joint venture between Dubai Investments, a leading investment company listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and Actis, a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, earned the ‘District Cooling Initiative of the Year — UAE’ accolade at the 18th Asian Power Awards 2022. The award recognizes the success in developing and implementing transformative district cooling solutions that help lead the sector forward.
The Asian Power Awards recognizes revolutionary innovations and outstanding initiatives amongst players across Asia’s power industry and nominations for the prestigious awards were screened by an expert panel of judges. EMICOOL’s achievement is a testament to its efforts in taking game-changing steps to meet growing demand for advanced new energy technologies, amidst a global climate crisis.

EMICOOL is providing chilled water for many prestigious facilities at Expo City (earlier Expo 2020), including the Expo Village, RTA Expo Metro Station, Dubai Exhibition Centre, and Dubai South Mall. The plant is controlled and monitored using highly advanced software with the prime focus on efficiency management and can be utilised from a UMS (unmanned space), enabling efficiently run plants without operator interferences.
The Emicool Expo City plant has also been uniquely designed to operate using direct Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) feed, which provides better discharge quality and ensures a more sustainable approach to water-cooling mechanisms.
