Emirates District Cooling (Emicool) – a subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC has announced conducting a weeklong performance review test at its AI enabled Expo 2020 cooling plant and unveiled over achieved performance results autonomously.
The performance test has demonstrated reliable demand, load and environmental compliance. The test was conducted by a leading European company to ensure the plant’s efficiency and performance in successfully meeting the cooling requirements of the Expo facilities.
Commenting on the performance review, Dr Adib Moubadder, Chief Executive Officer of Emicool, said, “Providing efficient district cooling solutions to a mega event like Expo 2020 marks a key milestone for us alongside our steady progress towards embedding digital transformation within the district cooling industry. Located in the Expo 2020 Opportunity wing, the plant is designed to maintain highest international standards, incorporating special architectural elements without compromising the technical requirements. We are extremely satisfied with the results of the performance review, ensuring optimised cooling facilities to Expo 2020 visitors and reinstating Emicool’s capabilities within the district cooling industry.”
Marked as the 14th DCP (District Cooling Plant), Emicool is providing chilled water for many prestigious facilities at Expo 2020 including the Expo village, RTA Expo Metro Station, Dubai Exhibition Centre and Dubai South Mall. The Company has strategic plans to increase the overall cooling capacity to 500,000 TR in the coming years across different sectors.
The Expo 2020 plant has also been uniquely designed to operate using direct Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) feed, which provides better discharge quality and ensures a more sustainable approach to water-cooling mechanisms
