Dubai, UAE, October 13th, 2019: University of Balamand Dubai (UOBD) has announced the appointment of a new vice chancellor and CEO, Dr. Jihad S. Nader, with effect from 1st October 2019.

With a distinguished academic and professional career spanning over thirty years, Dr. Nader formerly served as Provost and Chief Academic Officer of American University in Dubai (AUD) in addition to various leadership positions with well-known universities across the globe. With instrumental contributions for numerous academic and training institutions, business firms, professional bodies, and government agencies in North America, Europe and the Middle East, Dr. Nader has been conferred with several awards for excellence in teaching and research.

Dr. Nader holds a Ph.D in Finance from the University of Toronto and an M.B.A. and B.B.A. from the American University of Beirut. He went into international banking and held executive positions for years. In the academic sphere, his books on risk management are published by renowned international publishers and his research on financial institutions and markets, corporate finance, pension plan design and liability valuation, real estate lease valuation, banking education, and other topics, has been published in leading academic and professional journals. He also is or has been a member of the editorial boards of The Banking and Finance Review (USA), Logistics Information Management (UK), The Journal of Developing Areas (USA), and Engineering Letters (Texas A&M University).

Licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education, UOBD currently offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. All programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), the institutional licensure and degree accreditation department of the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE). Other programs on offer at UOBD and currently under review for accreditation by the CAA are a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with concentrations in Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Management and Risk Management, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Language and Literature, to be launched in spring 2020, and a Professional Teaching Diploma (TD) program. All degrees are based on the American model of higher education.
